Safety First

As parents our number one priority is our child’s safety. Any product you purchase for your baby should not only be functional but safe as well. In the old days ( 1980’s ) High chairs we not as safe as they are today. The regulations were shall we say lacking .

It seemed as if Companies were more interested in making profit over Child safety. Thankfully things have come a long way. Safety regulations have changed and are still changing. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) directs the Commission to issue standards for durable infant or toddler products.

According to the Federal Register The Daily Journal of The United States Government. A high chair is described as follows. As described by American Society for Testing and Materials ” ASTM F404-18 defines a “high chair” as “a free standing chair for a child up to 3 years of age which has a seating surface more than 15 in. above the floor and elevates the child normally for the purposes of feeding or eating.” The ASTM standard further specifies that a high chair may be sold with or without a tray, have adjustable heights, or recline for infants.[1]”.

It is important that you know these regulations and where to find them. Remember when asking the question What’s the best high Chair. You will also want to know is the high chair safe.
